Watson, Grady Lead Track & Field Against Hill

Chris Watson ’22 and Sarah Grady ’22 each won multiple events to pace Mercersburg’s outdoor track & field teams in a dual meet May 1 against visiting Hill.

Watson won the boys’ 100-meter dash in 11.53, the 300m hurdles in 43.67, and the long jump in 21-01. Grady earned victories in the girls’ 1600m (5:48.35) and 3200m (12:18.98). 

Hill won the boys’ competition, 74–64, and the girls’ competition, 85–59.

Other event winners for Mercersburg included Tom Scheers ’21 (boys’ high jump, 6-03), Kasper Malmros ’21 (boys’ 400m, 55.08), Sam Nobile ’21 (boys’ 800m, 2:24.03), Dylan Stiffler ’24 (boys’ 1600m, 5:12.89), Arola Oluwehinmi ’21 (girls’ long jump, 16-01.25), Erika Tso Sowah ’24 (girls’ 400m, 1:05.46), and Hannah King ’23 (girls’ high jump, 4-09).

"Every athlete on the team has improved over the past six weeks," Mercersburg head coach Nikki Walker said. "They have stepped outside of their comfort zones and become better every day. I am very proud of their effort and their determination. We have a lot of room left to improve, and that is what is most exciting about the future of this team!"
