V Baseball Beats Blair Twice for DH Sweep

Mercersburg’s varsity baseball team got back on track with a doubleheader sweep of Mid-Atlantic Prep League rival Blair Academy April 2 at Cannon Field. The Blue Storm won the opener, 11-6, and took the second game by a 12-4 score.

Tommy Tereschuk carried the Storm to victory in the first game with a strong outing on the mound. Tereschuk allowed just one earned run and three hits while striking out 10 in five innings of work. Mercersburg got solid offensive performances from Caleb Newcomer ’23 (who went 2-for-4 with a home run, three runs scored, and three RBI) and Augie Bennett ’24 (3-for-3, 3 RBI).

Mercersburg scored the first six runs of the second game in support of winning pitcher Evan Howley ’22. Aiden Lorson ’22 and John Blanco ’23 both homered; Lorson also drove in four runs.

The Blue Storm (4-3, 2-2 MAPL) hosts Hedgesville (WV) High School Tuesday, April 5 (4 p.m.).
