Tereschuk, Howley Strike Out 19 in V Baseball Opener

Tommy Tereschuk ’22 and Evan Howley ’22 combined to strike out 19 in a masterful one-hit performance to lead Mercersburg’s varsity baseball team past host Spring Mills, 4-0, in the Blue Storm’s season opener March 23 in Spring Mills, WV.

Tereschuk fanned 12 hitters in four innings of work, though he did walk five. Howley struck out seven Cardinals in relief and allowed one hit.

Caleb Newcomer ’23 had a pair of hits and drove in two runs for Mercersburg (1-0), which scored twice in the 1st inning and two more times in the 6th. Howley had an RBI after starting the game in right field. Aiden Lorson ’22 collected two hits and Howley, Augie Bennett ’24, and Austin Hallberg ’22 each had a base hit for the Storm.

Mercersburg visits the Hun School of Princeton for a Mid-Atlantic Prep League doubleheader Saturday, March 26, beginning at 1 p.m. in Princeton, N.J.
