Tereschuk, Burkhardt, King Pace Storm at Flash Invite
Tommy Tereschuk ’22 tied for first in the boys’ long jump, Thomas Burkhardt ’22 won the boys’ shot put, and Hannah King ’23 placed in all four events she competed in at Mercersburg’s February Flash Indoor Track & Field Invitational, which the Blue Storm hosted February 5 in the Hale Field House.
Tereschuk posted a leap of 19’ 5” in the long jump to tie with Terrence Steele of Carlisle, and also took fifth in the 400m (56.86) and teamed with Mick Lorenger ’22, Jake Cruikshank ’24, and John Blanco ’23 to place second in the 4x400m relay (4:47.33). His long jump ranks 10th on Mercersburg’s all-time indoor performer list. Burkhardt’s winning shot put throw was 37’ 3.25”.
King finished second in the 400m (1:07.16), tied for second in the high jump (4’ 10”), placed third in the 55m hurdles (10.06), and teamed with Catherine Shaffer ’22, Anne Sehon ’25, and Bella Levina ’25 for a third-place finish in the 4x400m relay (4:54.80).
"We had talked at practice the day before about seeing this meet as an opportunity to take things up a notch from our previous meet two weeks ago," said Mercersburg head coach David Grady. "Across the board, the athletes responded with stronger performances today in both the running and field events."
Other boys’ highlights:
Lorenger placed third in the 1600m with a time of 4:47.33. Caleb Newcomer ’23 tied for second in the high jump at 5’ 4” and took fifth in the 55m with a time of 6.92 seconds. Oscar Su ’25 was second in the pole vault at 7’ 2”. Cy Dittman ’25 took second in the triple jump with a jump of 32’ 9.75”.
Other girls’ highlights:
Sehon took third in the 800m; her time of 2:33.18 ranks fifth on the school’s all-time indoor list for Mercersburg. Folake Okunsanya ’22 placed thirrd in the shot put with a throw of 26’ 5.5”.
