Boys' Baseball Camp

Mercersburg Academy baseball campers practice fielding.
Hone your skills on the baseball diamond.

Baseball Camp covers an array of baseball fundamentals, including hitting, fielding, pitching, conditioning, and mental approaches. The camp consists of morning and afternoon sessions focusing on the fundamentals, with drill work and game play built in daily. If you are eager to improve your skills and outwork everyone, then we would love to have you at this camp!

Meet the Director

Josh Edgin ’06 joined the Mercersburg staff in 2022 as the assistant manager of athletic facilities and head baseball coach. A native of Three Springs, PA, Josh graduated from Mercersburg and attended the Ohio State University, where he played baseball before transferring to Francis Marion University in South Carolina and being drafted by the New York Mets in 2010. Josh played baseball professionally for nine years with the Mets, Nationals, and Orioles systems, including five years in the MLB before retiring in 2019. Prior to Mercersburg, he coached at Scotland Campus and helped out with area youth teams. Josh and his family live in McConnellsburg, PA.

Program Overview

A sign in Mercersburg’s home dugout reads “Tradition Doesn’t Graduate.”That tradition includes five Major League Baseball players (including current head coach Josh Edgin ’06), numerous conference titles, and four Pennsylvania Independent Schools state championships. The Blue Storm plays a challenging schedule that begins each spring with a preseason trip to Florida, and a regular-season slate that features schools from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, and the Washington, D.C., area.

Recent graduates have gone on to compete at all three NCAA collegiate levels and the pro ranks, including the major leagues. Edgin pitched for the New York Mets for six years and spent time in the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals organizations, and Christian Binford ’11 reached Class AAA as a pitcher in the Kansas City Royals’ organization; he also pitched in the Orioles’ and Detroit Tigers’ systems. Jayvien Sandridge ’18 is pitching at the Class A level in the Cincinnati Reds’ farm system. Other recent alumni have played (or are currently playing) at Bates, Cornell, Fairfield, George Washington, Harvard, Holy Cross, Mount St. Mary’s, Navy, Shenandoah, St. Joseph’s, Tampa, and West Virginia.
