Adventure Camp

An adventure camper climbing a rock face.

Take a wild ride that you’ll talk about for years.Variety is the spice of life, and at Adventure Camp, variety is an understatement! There’s truly never a dull moment, with activities from sunup to sundown on campus and at destinations near and far. After all, summer is all about having fun, right?

If you’re a thrill-seeker, you can scale the side of a cliff in our rock climbing program, navigate white water rapids on the Lower Youghiogheny River, or ride the most intimidating roller coasters at Hersheypark. Maybe you want to become a chef at a Michelin-star restaurant—you can hone those skills in our hands-on cooking lessons. Or perhaps you envision yourself as the next Oscar-winning director—your journey can start here with our film sessions. The point is: there are plenty of options and you’ll never be bored!

Meet the Director

Stephen Terry graduated from Villanova University with a bachelor’s degree in history. He is currently completing his master’s degree in library science at Pennsylvania Western University. Since Villanova, Stephen has held various roles at multiple boarding schools. At Mercersburg Academy, he worked as a library assistant, and he now teaches history and English at a boarding school outside of Boston.

Last year, Stephen served as the assistant director of Adventure Camp at Mercersburg, and he’s thrilled to return this year as the director. Passionate about the outdoors, Stephen brings his enthusiasm for nature and outdoor activities to Adventure Camp. His favorite camp experience last year was the classic Hurricanes vs. Tornadoes competition, and he’s excited to carry on this tradition this summer!

Program Overview

Adventure Camp’s unique structure provides just the right balance of enrichment challenges, athletics, outdoor activities, and fun trips to make every session wild, wonderful, and memorable.

Adventure Camp programming includes kayaking, biking, arts and crafts, a carnival, and much more. Participants spend at least one night braving the wild by sleeping outdoors under the stars and almost every evening singing around a campfire.

All campers are divided into two rival teams: the Hurricanes and Tornadoes. Fighting for bragging rights, these two groups face off in competitions such as Water Wars, Song Battles, and Capture the Flag (to name a few). You’re guaranteed to make friends with people from all over the country and around the world.

Of course, we can’t give away all our surprises. Just wait and see what new and exciting things are in store at Adventure Camp!
