Student Speakers Announced for Commencement 2021
Mercersburg Academy’s 128th Commencement exercises Saturday, June 5, will celebrate the graduating Class of 2021. Alexa Marsh ’21 of Fairfax, VA, is valedictorian of the class, while Lian Wang ’21 of Hong Kong, China, is the salutatorian.
Marsh, who will attend Princeton University, and Wang, who is headed to Stanford University, will both speak at Commencement, as will Nevin Orators Dylan Gantt ’21 and Farah Yahaya ’21. Gantt, of Atlanta, will attend the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), and Yahaya, of Easton, PA, is headed to Brown University.
This year’s class marshals are Kevin Chen ’21 and Ebube Onwusika ’21. Chen, of Shanghai, China, will attend the University of Pennsylvania, and Onwusika, of Lagos, Nigeria, will enroll at Northeastern University.
Senior Class President Rose Potter ’21 (Middleburg, VA/Virginia Tech) will announce the class gift.
The invited speakers for Commencement 2021 and Baccalaureate 2021 (which is Friday, June 4) were previously announced; they are former Mercersburg faculty member Floyd Robinson (Commencement) and retiring faculty member Tom Rahauser ’74, P ’05, ’07, ’12 (Baccalaureate).
Other participants during the Commencement ceremony will include Head of School Katie Titus P ’20, ’23; Board of Regents President Stacie Rice Lissette ’85, P ’14, ’14, ’17, ’23; and School Minister Rev. Will Whitmore.
