Softball Done In by Germantown Academy

Mercersburg’s softball team was down just 2-1 after four innings to host and No. 3-seeded Germantown Academy in the quarterfinals of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association State Tournament May 20 before the Patriots’ bats caught fire and scored nine runs to eliminate the Blue Storm, 11-2, in the Philadelphia suburb of Fort Washington, PA.

Catherine Shaffer ’22 went 3-for-4 at the plate with a home run and scored both runs for the Storm, which finished the season 7-13 but earned the No. 6 seed in the state tournament.

It was the final game for Mercersburg seniors Shaffer, Monique Garcia ’22, Izzy Jones ’22, Kayleigh Linn ’22, Cate Vickery ’22, and Ellie Williams ’22.
