PAISAA Indoor Track & Field Results: Boys 2nd, Girls 4th

Foday Bangura ’22 (boys’ triple jump), James Colwell ’20 (boys’ 55m hurdles), and Addie Geitner ’21 (girls’ 3200m) won individual events for Mercersburg’s indoor track & field teams at the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association State Championships, which were held January 25 in the Hale Field House in Mercersburg.

The Blue Storm boys placed second in the team standings, while the Storm girls finished fourth.

Bangura’s jump of 42’ 4” was his best-ever jump indoors. He also placed fifth in the 55m dash earlier in the meet in a time of 7.11 seconds.

Colwell’s winning time in the 55m hurdles was 8.23; he also placed fifth in the 200m (24.56) and ran a leg on the 4x400m relay team that placed third.  He was joined on the relay by Berklee Cohen ’20, Pablo Garza Gutierrez ’22, and Jack Quagliaroli ’22.

Aakash Koduru ’20 and Sean Fiscus ’20 placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 1600m (4:39.68 and 4:41.57). Fiscus took second in the 800m (2:07.93), and Koduru placed third in the 3200m (10:25.63). 

Prithvi Kota ’22 placed second in the high jump (5’ 8”), Zach Courtney ’20 took third in the shot put (36’ 8.75”), and Peter Polega ’20 was third in the long jump (20’ 0.25”, his first time breaking the 20-foot mark). Polega also placed fifth in the triple jump (37’ 7.75").

Geitner won the 3200m in a time of 12:01.36. Hannah King ’23 took third in the high jump (4’ 10”) and fourth in the 55m hurdles, one spot behind teammate Elizabeth Flaherty ’21 (third) 

Bridget Ahlgren ’22 and Maddie Schermerhorn ’22 placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 800m, separated only by 0.25 seconds (2:40.50 and 2:40.75). 

Arola Oluwenhinmi ’21 placed third in the 55m in a time of 7.75 seconds.
