Raymond Papa was the third Mercersburg swimmer to compete for the Philippines and the only Philippine swimmer from Mercersburg to compete in two Olympics. While still a student at Mercersburg, Papa competed in the 1992 Summer Olympic games in Barcelona, Spain. He returned to Olympic competition in 1996 after two years at the University of Michigan, competing in the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. At Barcelona Raymond swam the 100 meter backstroke, 200 meter backstroke, and the 4 x 100 meter medley relay. At the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics Papa swam the 200 meter freestyle, 100 meter backstroke, and the 200 meter backstroke.
