William Mann Irvine Society

Established in 1975, the William Mann Irvine Society is a donor group named in honor of the school's visionary first headmaster, Dr. William Mann Irvine, and comprised of more than 500 alumni, parents, friends, and organizations. Members of the society contribute at least $1,893 to Mercersburg each year—an amount that symbolizes the school's founding year—or an associate level amount.

WMIS members are essential to the financial health and continued success of Mercersburg, accounting for 90 percent of dollars raised for the Mercersburg Annual Fund. The Annual Fund provides 10 percent of the school's operating budget, supporting the entire student experience through areas such as academic programs, faculty salaries and professional development, financial aid, and campus maintenance.

Leadership giving ensures that Mercersburg remains among the top boarding schools in the country. Benefits of WMIS membership include insider updates from the school, invitations to WMIS receptions, recognition in select publications, and a calendar year giving summary for tax purposes.

As a member of the William Mann Irvine Society, your philanthropy can help define Mercersburg and can inspire others to support the school's mission. For information about becoming a WMIS member, please contact Carolyn Griffin Yeager at 717-328-6219 or yeagerc@mercersburg.edu.

For 35 years, Dr. William Mann Irvine devoted his life to Mercersburg as its founder and first headmaster. His commitment as an educator made it a place of academic achievement—where young students could fulfill their greatest potential. His strength as a leader spurred growth in enrollment, land, and facilities.

Dr. Irvine's vision inspired others to share in his dream and to give to the school he loved. The spirit of generous leadership and commitment to Mercersburg that Dr. Irvine embodied lives on through the William Mann Irvine Society.
