Residential Life

Residence Activities

Sure, we stay pretty busy at Mercersburg—but we also make sure to carve out time for fun.

Our Student Activities Committee (SAC) works with faculty member Trini Hoffman to plan events, games, and dances; off-campus trips as close as area movie theatres, malls, and shopping centers, and as far away as New York City and Washington, D.C.; or whatever the SAC comes up with.

In between classes, practices, rehearsals, games, performances, and studying, students might work on the Mercersburg NEWS or KARUX yearbook; organize a study break with snacks and activities in the common room of their dormitory; play pool or ping-pong or grab a bite to eat in the Simon Student Center; or organize a game of Frisbee, pickup soccer, or touch football on Spider Field or Tippetts Beach.

While fun and games are great to look forward to, we still have to hit the books sometime, of course. That’s why we have quiet hours Sunday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. But when we’re all working together, studying can be fun, too.

Weekends Off Campus

With so many activities and experiences that happen during the school year, students and their families look forward to reuniting and catching up. To facilitate this, seniors are allowed 12 weekends off campus each year, and underclassmen are allowed 10. These weekends include one long (three-day) weekend each year. School vacations, when the school is officially closed, do not count in the weekend total.

Students must request these weekend visits at least one week before they want to go home by completing a form with the Office of Student Life. Contact Mrs. Laurie Rice (ricel@mercersburg.edu) with any questions or concerns.
