Residential Life

Residence Activities

It would be a pretty dull life to come home after a hard day of classes and have only a night of studying waiting for you. OK, OK, you have to get your homework done, but that doesn’t mean things don’t get busy!

In between classes and studying, students’ schedules are packed.

Some activities you may be involved with include:
  • pulling together the latest issue of the Mercersburg News
  • finishing softball or soccer practice
  • rehearsing for a one-act play
After all that, you may still have the energy to:
  • watch TV in the common room with friends
  • sign up for a movie-night out
  • take a pizza study break
  • play some pool or ping-pong in the Simon Student Center
  • whatever else the Student Activities Committee comes up with!
While fun and games are great to look forward to, you still have to hit the books sometime. That’s why we have quiet hours Sunday through Thursday between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. But when you’re all working together, studying can be fun, too.

Weekends Off Campus

With so many activities and experiences that happen during the school year, students and their families look forward to reuniting and catching up. To facilitate this, seniors are allowed 12 weekends off campus each year, and underclassmen are allowed 10. These weekends include one long (three-day) weekend each year. School vacations, when the school is officially closed, do not count in the weekend total.

Students must request these weekend visits at least one week before they want to go home by filing a form with the dean’s office. Contact Mrs. Laurie Rice (ricel@mercersburg.edu) with any questions or concerns.
