The Counseling Department is located in the Rahauser Counseling Center, which is inside the Rutherford Health and Wellness Center in the northeast corner of campus along McFarland Road. Our professional counselors help students with issues such as homesickness, anxiety/stress management, grief and loss, and relationship and family problems. . More information on each of our counselors, as well as ways to contact them, can be found in their biographies.
Susan Rahauser, director of student counseling services, and Paul Galey, school counselor, provide counseling to help students cope with adolescence so they can rediscover their academic focus. The counselors are available for weekday appointments or walk-ins, or in case of emergency.
Appointments can be scheduled with any one of our counselors directly by email or telephone. In addition to our own counselors, outside referrals are available. While meetings with our counselors at Mercersburg Academy are included in tuition fees, meetings with outside licensed professionals are handled on a “fee for service” basis and are any costs are the responsibility of the family.
