The Mercersburg News

The Mercersburg News is Mercersburg Academy’s student-run newspaper. Now in its 117th year of publication, the News boasts a rich history and years of tradition. The Mercersburg News is proud to be one of the few high-school newspapers in the country to publish weekly. All articles are written by Mercersburg students and cover campus events, national and world news, sports, arts, and student interests.

The News staff always looks to welcome new reporters, photo editors, and copy editors to the team. Being part of the  News provides students a chance to explore the world of writing, editing, and reporting and gain valuable hands-on experience in the newsroom. A number of former News editors have gone on to write for or edit their college newspapers and even to make journalism a career.

Weekly editions are distributed around campus and mailed to alumni and parents, and stories are also available online at news.mercersburg.edu. Allison Stephens and Frank Betkowski are the faculty advisers for the News and help oversee its production. The News is a member of the Pennsylvania School Press Association.
