Prospective Athletes

"Coach Trembley saw my potential and he told me what I was going to do. It was like a crystal ball. He told me, 'You're going to be at the Olympics in '84 and you'll be even better after that.' We all looked at him like he was crazy, but his stating what he thought I could be really opened my eyes. Having someone tell you what you are capable of is really powerful."

Thank you for your interest in our school and our interscholastic athletic program. Step onto the Mercersburg campus and you will literally walk in the footsteps of Olympic athletes. But athletics at Mercersburg is defined by much more than Olympian successes. 26 varsity sports and 17 junior varsity/thirds/club teams provide an avenue for everyone from the novice to the potential collegiate recruit.

Performance Principles
Mercersburg's athletes and coaches utilize resources that address performance nutrition, dynamic flexibility, sports psychology, and a strength program that focuses on developing the energy system of every athlete.

"Respect the game."
You'll hear this statement and see evidence of it in our competitive spirit and effort, and in the sportsmanship we extend to opponents and officials.

Inclusion
The driving principle of our athletic program is the fulfillment, for every student, that comes from contributing to a team's success. We place an emphasis on the process and on equal access, learning, and improvement.

High levels of participation and achievement.
Mercersburg athletes routinely garner All-League and Academic All-League honors in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League, as well as regional and national recognition. More than 80% of our students participate in at least one sport, while typically 20-25% of the graduating senior class goes on to compete on the collegiate level.
