2018 MAPL Cross Country Championship

The 18th annual MAPL Cross Country Championships will be held at Mercersburg Academy Wednesday, October 31, with a “bad weather” date of Thursday, November 1. The boys’ varsity race is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. Following the completion of the boys’ varsity race, the girls’ varsity race will begin at 2 p.m. The Futures Race, a mixed-gender futures race, will start at approximately 2:30 p.m.

The route will be marked in accordance with National High School Federation rules which dictate the use of colored flags to designate changes of direction. The flags will be supplemented by a white marking on the ground in some areas to aid runners. Course marshals will also be present at critical points to guide runners.
All runners will be assigned a bib number and will be required to wear the number pinned to the front of their jersey.

The runners who come to the line for the varsity race will be declared as each team’s varsity seven. Runners who do not compete in the Varsity races may compete in the mixed-gender Futures race.

Teams must register their entries via MileSplit by Wednesday, October 24. Contact Mercersburg’s Lauren Hoffman or Peddie’s William Sodano for the registration link and password.

Results will be posted immediately after the conclusion of each race and there will be a 25-minute protest period in which to challenge the results. At the conclusion of the protest period and after challenges have been reviewed by the head referee, the results will be considered final.

Runners should not approach the finish line before their race (to avoid a false read of the timing chip in their bibs).
