When you visit the Mercersburg campus, you'll have the chance to take a tour of the school with a current Mercersburg student followed by a one-on-one interview with an admission officer. The walking tour will last approximately one hour.
Please note that visiting families are expected to schedule appointments several weeks in advance. Appointments are available on most weekdays during the school year. No weekend appointments are available. We encourage families to visit as early in the application process as possible, after August 1 preceding the student's entry year.

Mercersburg requires an interview as part of the admission process. In order to best prepare for your visit, a pre-interview survey will be sent directly after your appointment is scheduled. Admission officers travel across the United States and around the world. Interview appointments off-campus are available, but cannot fully replace the on-campus experience.
If you come to campus, you'll have a tour by a current Mercersburg student. Following the tour, you will have a one-on-one interview with an admission officer that will last approximately 30 minutes. Parents will also spend approximately 30 minutes talking with the same admission officer.

Quentin was appointed Mercersburg’s assistant head of school for enrollment in July 2016. He arrived at Mercersburg in 2007 as a member of the history faculty, and was also appointed head boys’ soccer coach in December of that year. In 2008, he became director of summer and extended programs, a position he held until July 2012, when he joined the admission office as senior associate director of admission and financial aid.
Quentin attended Holderness School in New Hampshire as a postgraduate, and went on to study at Muhlenberg College, where he played soccer. He has also worked for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and as a teacher, coach, and administrator at Cushing Academy in Massachusetts.
Quentin led the Blue Storm boys’ soccer team to its first-ever Mid-Atlantic Prep League championship in 2014, the same year the team reached the finals of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools State Tournament (also a first in the program’s history). He is a graduate of Muhlenberg College and George Washington University. Quentin lives on campus with his wife, Lauren, and their three children, Nina, Ewan, and Rooney.
Senior Associate Director of Admission & Financial Aid
Amy has worked at Mercersburg since the fall of 1994. Following a one-year internship, she accepted a full faculty position at Mercersburg, joining both the foreign language and physical education departments. Since 1999, Amy has been part of the Office of Admission and Financial Aid.
Prior to coming to Mercersburg, she spent a year coaching age-group and college swimming in Raleigh, N.C., following an All-America career at Denison University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in economics and Spanish; Amy also holds an MBA from Frostburg State University. Amy lived in Fowle Hall for 16 years, and now lives off campus with her husband, John, and their two daughters, Annie and Clare. Her dorm affiliation is with Tippetts Hall. Amy has also coached swimming at Mercersburg in addition to her other faculty duties, and currently serves as an assistant swim coach for the Blue Storm.
Senior Associate Director of Admission & Financial Aid
Anna joined the Office of Admission in 2010 as an assistant director. She grew up in Bethesda, Md., and graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 2005. Anna matriculated to Dickinson College, where she earned a B.A. in American Studies and a minor in Sociology in 2009. Anna came to the Mercersburg admission office from Xenophon Strategies, a public relations firm in Washington, D.C. Anna is the coordinator of the Blue Key Tour Guide Program and also serves as a dorm faculty member and adviser; she was also the class adviser to Mercersburg’s Class of 2015. Anna lives in Swank Hall with her husband, Tim, who is the school’s assistant director of capital giving.
Zach is an associate director of admission and financial aid and an assistant coach for Mercersburg’s varsity baseball team. He came to Mercersburg from The Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tenn., where he was an associate director of admissions and dormitory head and was the school’s head baseball and boys’ and girls’ tennis coach. He has also worked as a research technologist at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Zach graduated from The Potomac School in McLean, Va., before matriculating at Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He lived in Tippetts Hall and Fowle Hall before moving to South Cottage, where his wife, Shelley (a member of the English department), is the dormitory dean.
Director of Financial Aid & Associate Director of Admission
Liam, who is Mercersburg’s director of financial aid and an associate director of admission, joined the admission office after almost seven years with UBS Financial Services, where he was based in New York City and worked in different roles including client and global strategy.
Liam played varsity ice hockey at Babson College, where he earned a degree in finance and legal studies. He is a boarding-school graduate, having attended St. George’s School in Rhode Island, where he was a prefect and played hockey, football, baseball, and lacrosse. Liam lives with his wife, Kathleen, and son, Maverick, in Fowle Hall on campus; Liam is also an assistant coach for Mercersburg’s boys’ varsity lacrosse team.
Lena has been a part of the Office of Admission since 2007, and officially joined the faculty as an assistant director of admission in 2016. She initially came to the Academy as a member of the Office of Alumni and Development. Prior to her appointment as an admission officer, Lena served as admission operations coordinator, which included oversight of office operations, managing the database, and coordinating the communications and technological requirements of the department.
Lena works with the Blue Key (tour guide) program and is an adviser in Fowle Hall. She graduated from Penn State University and lives in Mercersburg with her three children, including Trey ’21.
Jake arrived at Mercersburg from the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tenn., where he taught geography and civics as a middle-school teaching fellow and served as a student adviser, dorm parent, and outdoor-activities instructor. He graduated from Baylor before earning a bachelor’s degree in history from Sewanee: The University of the South.
Jake grew up in Chattanooga and later spent several summers working at Camp Pathfinder, a camp for boys in central Ontario, where he led groups on flat-water and whitewater trips of as long as 35 days through the Canadian wilderness. Some of his Mercersburg duties include working with the school’s Blue Key (tour guide) program, as well as with Mercersburg Outdoor Education (MOE). Jake lives just off campus and is an adviser affiliated with Main Hall.
For many, Susan is the first point of contact on campus with Mercersburg. Whether guests are making their first phone call or have just entered the door after a long journey, Susan welcomes all who want to learn about Mercersburg. She also enters initial inquiries into the database and schedules all admission appointments, ensuring a smooth and informative visit for all.
As the wife of emeritus faculty member Ron Simar and the mother of three Mercersburg alumni, Susan is knowledgeable about all things Mercersburg, from the daily lives of students to sporting events to campus lore from the past three decades.
Michelle began at Mercersburg in 2009; she worked in the the Office of Summer and Extended Programs before moving to the Office of Admission, where she serves in the role of admission operations coordinator.
Michelle and her husband, Jim, live in Chambersburg, and have two daughters, Emily ’15 and Madison.

Jaime is an administrative assistant in the Office of Admission and part of the 10-person team that works with prospective and current students and their families.
