Mercersburg has lived up to my expectations. I like it a lot. My brother, Matt ’11, went to school here. When I came here to interview, I really liked the buildings and how the classes were set up. But I mostly liked all the opportunities—you can do so much here. Before coming to Mercersburg, I never really tried anything new. But when I got here, I found that I had a lot of interests that I didn’t know that I had.
I am working a lot harder than I did at my previous school, but in a good way. I feel challenged. I like the small the classes. Rather than just sitting there listening to the teacher, I’m engaged in the class discussions. Not only do I get more individual attention here, but I can also ask the teachers questions, and they never get annoyed with me.
I think “Define yourself. Here.” is really true, because now is when we’re all trying to figure out what we want to do for the rest of our lives. And here we have lots of choices to help us do that. Right now I’m on the winter track team and I’m also in band; I play clarinet. This is the first time I’ve done team sports, and my previous band experience wasn’t nearly as good as it is at Mercersburg.
I didn’t think that the community here would be as close and nice as it is. Everyone wants to get along. That’s what make it makes such a nice community— one that I love being in. Not only is it great living in a dorm, it really feels like we’re a family.
