Curriculum & Requirements

Course Selection

Course selection begins in the middle of the spring term and runs for several weeks.

Students select their courses with the help of several faculty members:

a.  Departments:  each department approves courses for all students based on performance in the courses they are taking and have taken.  If there are multiple approvals, the department often includes notes to help the student choose the best option for the following year.

b. Registration Gurus: Faculty members who know the curriculum and requirements very well (registration gurus) have one-on-one course selection meetings with students. In these meetings, students choose their courses for the following year based on their goals and interests, their list of approved courses, and any graduation requirements that need to be fulfilled.  The Guru also helps students map out their future plans (or revise their future plans).

c. Adviser: Each student’s adviser ensures that the advisee has created an academic program that allows time for other important aspects of school life to be pursued.
