New Mercersburg Magazine Concludes 125th-Anniversary Celebration
The winter 2018-2019 issue of Mercersburg magazine is on its way to mailboxes, and you can access the digital version now. This issue, which specifically explores Mercersburg’s history from 1972 to the present, is the third in a three-part series highlighting and celebrating Mercersburg’s 125th anniversary.
The features in this issue evoke a multitude of conversations—between alumni and former Headmaster Walter Burgin ’53 and former Head of School Douglas Hale; between a student and current Head of School Katie Titus; between current and former faculty; and between students and four longtime staff members who recently retired and have witnessed Mercersburg’s changing history under all three of the last heads of school.
In addition to the special historical content and interviews, the winter issue introduces the school’s new strategic design, includes the 2017-2018 Annual Report, and provides coverage of last spring’s Commencement and Reunion Weekend 2018.
Bundled with the magazine is an exclusive publication celebrating Mercersburg’s 125th anniversary. Based in part on One Hundred Years of Life: 1893-1993 by David Emory ’72, the 68-page work captures some of the most iconic and memorable moments in the school’s history.
Mercersburg magazine is an eight-time recipient of the CASE District II Accolades Award for independent-school magazines. (CASE is the international association for advancement and communications professionals in education; District II includes six states in the Mid-Atlantic region and the District of Columbia, as well as portions of Canada and the Caribbean.)
The magazine is published by the school’s Office of Strategic Marketing & Communications and is printed at HBP in nearby Hagerstown, Md. (John Snyder ’76 is HBP’s president.)
