A Note from Denah Marano D'Annunzio

Dear Fellow Classmates,

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season with their loved ones. With 2019 in full swing, it is now time to start counting down to one of the most important weekends of the year.

Our 20th reunion is just around 135 days away; that is just a little less than five months to go until we are together again. Can you believe we have been out of high school for 20 years? How old does that make us??!!

We have an amazing reunion committee that is going to inundate you with everything Mercersburg. Our goal is to get you as excited as we all are to return to the place where we began our journey of "growing" up.

We have been working hard to bring you some fun and new experiences that we will remember, just like our high-school days. One thing that I am excited about and can't wait to see is our very own Rebecca Lowe, who will be the keynote speaker on Saturday afternoon for a session called "The Lowe Down." Rick Hendrickson will moderate and ask her questions about her sports-broadcasting career. Each month, a different committee member has volunteered to write you, just as I'm writing you now. We will be giving you lots of important information all about Reunion Weekend 2019.

Regardless of all the fun being planned, I'm most looking forward to visiting some of the best places on campus that hold a special place in my heart and showing them all to my family, especially South Cottage. I am sure we all have our own special places and memories, but who can forget Winter Formals in the Edwards Room, playing pool and watching TV in Ford Hall, morning mail check, pretzel-pie night in the dining hall, Irving-Marshall Week, and those springtime walks or bike rides to Second Bridge and Romeo's? This 20th-year reunion has me reminiscing on days of old and believing, if only for a few short days, that life could be as a simple now as it was back then, but embracing all the places we have been and changes and experiences we have had since leaving Mercersburg.

Take a moment to visit the updated Mercersburg Reunion Weekend web page to see other programming, the schedule (still in progress), a list of who's coming, and more information about the family fun (kids are invited and there will be child care available for evening events, so we can for a short moment pretend we are still in high school). Registration will go live next month, and you can review a list of FAQs in the meantime.

So, save the date for the best four days in 2019, June 6-9, while we share in new experiences, catch up on old, eat together, share libations, listen and dance to live music, and continue to learn about our school, ourselves, and each other. Feel free to reach out to me directly via email or phone. I look forward to catching up with everyone soon and seeing you all June 6-9.

All the best,

Denah Marano D'Annunzio
