Spring and Senior Art Show Features Student Work

Pieces by 59 student artists—including 18 members of the Class of 2019—are on exhibit in the Burgin Center for the Arts’ Cofrin Gallery and Small Gallery. A reception was held May 17 in the Cofrin Gallery.
The annual Senior Art Show features work by Will Kendrick ’19, Meghan Scott ’19, Katie Owens ’19, and Emily Truong ’19 (photography); Joseph Yonke ’19, Ipek Celikoyar ’19, Jennet O'Donoghue ’19, and Andrea Yu ’19 (painting and film); Caroline He ’19 (illustration); Casey Nguyen ’19 (screenplay and documentary film); Ilyas Clouse ’19 (music); Maddie Kennedy ’19 (documentary film); Rose Olsen ’19 (dance choreography and film); Jill Ahlgren ’19 (painting); and Mary DiLalla ’19, Noah Litzinger ’19, Tiffany McGhie ’19, and Liam Kick ’19 (ceramics).

The Spring Student Art Show includes work by members of Mercersburg’s ninth-grade, 10th-grade, and 11th-grade classes.

The Senior Art Show will run through Commencement Weekend at Mercersburg (May 26), and a reception for the Senior Art Show will be held Friday, May 24, from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Burgin Center for the Arts’ Cofrin Gallery. The work of students from the other classes will be up through Thursday, May 30.

Styles of work featured in the two art shows include photography, mixed media, painting, drawing, earthenware, design/filmmaking, and illustration/animation.

Visual artists featured in the shows have studied with Mercersburg faculty members Sydney Caretti, Kristen Pixler, and Wells Gray, and have taken courses in Commarts (Springboard capstone), studio art, digital photography, ceramics, drawing, and painting.
