Volleyball Teams Sweep Lighthouse Christian

Both the varsity and JV volleyball teams swept to victory over visiting Lighthouse Christian Academy (Cumberland, MD) October 22.

In the JV match, the Blue Storm won the first set 25-22 and completed the shutout with a 25-10 victory in set two. The varsity team picked up where the JV left off and swept to victory with dominant set wins of 25-11, 25-10, and 25-12. 

Mercersburg was strong from the service line in the varsity contest, coming up with a whopping 28 aces in just three sets. Morgan Fisher '23 led the way with 10 of those aces while Priscilla Lee '23 had 6 and Alli Caretti '26 and Emily Jiang '24 added 4 each. Lee (9) and Sarah Howley '26 (7) were the leaders in assists while Rachel Hull '23 topped the stat sheet in kills with 5, followed by Caretti and Jiang with 4 apiece. Shine Jo '25 was the star for the JV team as she had 32 sets, 4 kills and 4 aces. Brie Wyant '26 also had a big match with 14 digs and 3 aces.

For the JV's the win was the 7th straight (all shutouts) and improves their record to 8-3 while the Blue Storm varsity is 4-8 on the season. St. James comes to Mercersburg on Wednesday, October 26 to take on the JV squad at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity matchup at 6.
