Varsity Volleyball Pulls Out Five-Set Win

The Storm picked up its first official win of the season with a 3-2 victory over host Connelly School of the Holy Child in a varsity volleyball match played in Potomac, MD September 18.

After taking the opening two sets 28-26 and 25-20, Mercersburg dropped the next two by scores of 25-14 and 25-21. In the deciding fifth set, the Storm found its rhythm once again and clinched the match with a 15-7 win.

Jaz Garnett '27 had a strong night with 10 kills and 5 aces (and a 100% service average). Mary Grady '25 also had 10 kills while Alli Caretti '26 and Rayna Allen '27 each had 9. Caretti contributed 26 assists and Allen chipped in 9 digs. Lena Wilke '27 also came up big with 10 digs, 4 aces, and a strong defensive game.

Head coach Amy Lyman commented, "it was great to get a win...we still need to work on consistency, but we are doing some really good things for this early in the season."

Mercersburg (1-2) jumps right back into action by hosting the Frederick (MD) Force on Thursday, September 19. The JV match begins at 4:30 pm with the varsity following at 6 pm.
