Mercersburg split a pair of volleyball matches with visiting St. John's Catholic Prep (Frederick, MD) October 4. The JV won its fourth straight contest by a score of 2-0 while the varsity lost 3-0.
The Blue Storm dominated the JV tilt, taking the first set 25-11 and the second 25-8. Shine Jo '25 once again led the way with 8 aces and 13 digs while Mary Grady '25 added 10 digs and Elena Sans Perez '25 added 6.
The short-handed varsity squad battled hard, but could not keep up with the Vikings. The first set ended 25-17, but then St. John's went on a roll and won the next two sets by scores of 25-14 and 25-8. Rachel Hull '23 had 7 kills and 8 digs while Morgan Fisher '23 contributed 6 kills, Sarah Howley '26 provided 11 assists, and Charlotte D'Arabian '24 matched Hull with 8 digs.
Next up for the varsity (3-6 overall) is a match at Bishop Walsh (Cumberland, MD) on Wednesday, October 5 at 6 p.m. The 5-3 JV squad has a week off before its next contest at Grier School on Wednesday, October 12, beginning at 5 p.m.
