Varsity Girls' Soccer Ties Hill 1-1

In a thrilling Mid-Atlantic Prep League contest in Pottstown, PA, the Blue Storm girls' varsity soccer team battled host Hill School to a 1-1 draw October 29.

Mercersburg took the lead early when Nora Smith '24 took Caroline Wilkinson's '23 corner kick and headed it in for a 1-0 lead. Hill tied it midway through the second half, and that's the way it stayed through regulation, so the teams headed to overtime.

Goalie Annie Mohr '26 made a couple of huge saves in the first overtime to keep the score tied at one. The Blue Storm had a chance to win it with a minute to play in the second overtime, but when the Mercersburg shot went just over the crossbar, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

In the JV contest, Hill finished on top by a score of 1-0, snapping the Blue Storm's three-game winning streak. It was an even matchup as both teams had lots of scoring chances. The JV squad ended the season with a final record of 3-6-1.

The regular season is now over for the varsity also. Mercersburg finished with an overall record of 4-9-1, 0-4-1 in the MAPL. The team will await information on seeding and opponent in the PAISAA state tournament.
