Track Teams Win First Home Meet

Mercersburg outscored six area track & field teams April 16 to win its first meet on the Curran track this season.

On the boys' side the Storm collected 232 points while Maryland School for the Deaf took second with 130. Highlights for the boys' included Charlie Xu '26, who was the only double-winner as he finished first in both the 100M dash and Long Jump. Other winners included Winston Watkins '25 in the 800M, Will Wallace '27 in the 1600M, Haris Yahaya '24 the 110M Hurdles, Adrian Rios '25 in the Javelin, and Josiah Wright '25 in the High Jump.

The girls ended up with 246 points with McConnellsburg second at 136. The girls' had three double-winners including Maddie Goodhart '24 in the 400M and Javelin, Bella Levina '25 in the Triple Jump and Pole Vault, and Marlo Williams '25 in the 100M Hurdles and High Jump. Other winners were Nia Henley '23 (100M), Sophie Koroma '26 (200M), Leah Willis '24 (800M), Gigi Devlin '24 (1600M), and Lilly Killinger '26 (300M Hurdles).

"What a great day!", said head coach Nikki Walker. "The best part was the students cheering loudly for each other." 

Nine Mercersburg athletes will compete at the Shippensburg University Roddick Invitational on Saturday, April 20 at 9 am.
