Mercersburg's boys' track & field team took first place in the Maryland School for the Deaf Invitational April 24 while the girls' finished in second place.
The boys' edged the Fairfax Homeschool team 85-81 while Fairfax flipped the script on the girls' side, topping the Storm 102-89. There were a total of 10 teams competing in both the boys' and girls' meets.
Top performances for the boys' included Josiah Wright '25 winning the high jump (5-8) with Chris Ametepe '25 taking second. Charlie Xu '26 finished second in both the 100M (11.24) and 200M (23.06) dash. Two relays took third place; the 4X800M team of Ethan Ma '27, Ewan McDowell '27, Bryson Brown '24, and Ahman Habib '26 as well as the 4x400M team of McDowell, Ma, Adrian Rios '25, and Anderson Wang '26.
For the girls', Marlo Williams '25 finished first in the shot put (31-9) and second in 100 Hurdles (16.56) while Lilly Killinger '26 won the 300 Hurdles (52.71). Three relays finished second including the 4x400M team (Killinger, Maddie Chu '27, Addie Heldman '25, Susannah Huang '27), the 4x100M team (Abby Kendall '26, Heldman, Rayna Allen '27, Raquel Cordero '24) and the 4x800M team (Chu, Huang, An Yan '26, Bauhinia Chen '26).
"It was a beautiful day with very comparable competition," said head coach Nikki Walker. "We did not take our Penn Relays competitors to this meet, allowing others to step up and lead the team. We look forward to the future of track and field at Mercersburg."

As coach Walker noted, several Mercersburg runners will compete in the historic Penn Relays across three days from Thursday, April 25 through Saturday, April 27.
