Swimmers Win 12 Events at MAPL Invitational

Mercersburg’s boys’ and girls’ swim teams had a strong day at the Mid-Atlantic Prep League Invitational February 5 at Peddie School in Hightstown, NJ.

Official team scores were not kept, but Blue Storm swimmers won 12 of the 22 events contested, including all six relays. (By comparison, Peddie earned victories in six events, Hill had three wins, and Blair won one event.)

Jacob Pishko ’22 won the boys’ 200-yard freestyle and 500 freestyle, and was part of victorious relay teams in the 200 medley and 400 free relays. Jade Matthias ’22 earned a win in the girls’ 50 free and as part of the 200 medley and 400 free relays.

The Blue Storm boys have a dual meet against Kiski and St. Maria Goretti Tuesday, February 8, at 4 p.m. in the Lloyd Aquatic Center; the Storm girls will face off against Goretti. Both teams will then officially set their sights on preparations for the Eastern Interscholastic Swimming & Diving Championships February 25–26 at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA
