Swimmers Top Peddie

The Mercersburg swimming and diving teams hosted MAPL rival Peddie January 13 and both swam to victories. The boys' also competed against a small squad from Kiski, and won that competition as well.

On the boys' side, the Storm cruised to a 114-64 win over Peddie, taking first in all the relays and also winning eight individual races. Matthew Beehler '24 (100 Free and 100 Back) and Jayden Kwon '27 (200 IM and 500 Free) each won two events while Thomas Cechini '25 (200 Free), Borry Jiang '27 (50 Free), Nick Green '25 (100 Fly), and Nara Tith '27 (100 Breast) each won one. Alex Van Ess '24 won the boys' portion of the diving competition.

For the girls' Crystal Yuen '24 won the 200 Free and 500 Free and lowered her own school record in the 100 Free as the lead leg in the pivotal 400 Free Relay. Mercersburg entered that final race (the 400 Free Relay) trailing the Falcons by three points, but took first, third, and fifth to squeeze out a 93-90 win. Ingrid Janney '24 won the 100 Back and Luntu Radebe '25 took first in the girls' diving event, which provided crucial points to the team victory.

Mercersburg will compete in the Malvern (PA) Prep Dual Meets on Saturday, January 20 at 3 pm.
