Swimmers Hit the Pool For First Meet

The boys' and girls' swim teams competed in the State College Quad Invite, hosted by State College high school (PA) December 4.

The Storm swimmers faced challenges even before the competition began as transportation issues delayed their arrival, causing them to miss the first few events. Once they got settled, the team put up several impressive performances and took first place in fifteen of the nineteen events in which they participated. Several athletes were double winners including Thomas Cechini '25 (boys' 200 and 500 free), Xiomara Del Rosario '26 (girls' 200 IM and 100 back), and Jayden Kwon '27 (boys' 200 IM and 100 back). Other individual race winners were Tuana Ozdemir '26 (girls' 100 butterfly), Nick Green '25 (boys' 100 butterfly), Amanda Liechti '28 (girls' 100 free), Borry Jiang '27 (boys' 100 free), and Nara Tith '27 (boys' 100 breast). The Storm also swept the relay events (in which they participated) taking first place in the girls' 200 free relay (Sophie Koroma '26, Zoe Williamson '26, Elizabeth Young '27, and Liechti), boys' 200 free relay (Harry Cameron '26, Jiang, Green, and Tith), girls' 400 free relay (Del Rosario, Ozdemir, Young, and Liechti) and boys 400 free relay (Cechini, Kwon, Arman Edilyan '26, and Jiang).

Head coach Matt Hurst commented, "[In] these early season meets the conversation is always about controlling what we can, having a plan, executing it, and rehearsing it. I thought as a team collectively we stepped up and executed what it is we’ve been talking about all season. I’m very encouraged by the efforts."

Full meet results are attached.

Next up for the swim team is a weekend competition at the SRVA Holiday Invite hosted by Collegiate School of Richmond, VA. The meet runs from Thursday, December 12 through Sunday, December 15.
