Strong Day for Indoor Track at Private School Invitational

The boys' and girls' indoor track and field teams each finished tenth (out of twenty-five teams) at the Georgetown Prep Private Schools Invitational in North Bethesda, MD February 1.

Mercersburg had many strong performances, led by Ryan DuPlessis '25 who won both the boys' 300m (35.96) and 500m (65.83) runs and set school records while doing so. Anne Sehon '25 was also an event winner, taking first in the girls' 1000m run in a time of 3:08.00 that puts her second on the Storm's all-time Top 10 list. Ella Blanco '26 was barely edged out in the girls' 1600m run, finishing second by 1.21 seconds. Zara Kimotho '28 cleared a lifetime best 4'8" in the girls' high jump, and as a ninth-grader, is already tied for third-best on the all-time Top 10 list while Iman Zhakan '26 moved into fifth place all-time in the boys' 1000m run by finishing in 2:48.10. Chris Carbone '26 finished 4th in the boys' 1600m with a lifetime PR of 4:42.57 and James Coors '27 also ran a personal best in the boys' 3200m with a time of 11:25.51.

The Storm will now prepare for the MAPL championship meet, which will be held at Lawrenceville (NJ) on Friday, February 7 at 4 pm.
