Spring Mills high school (Martinsburg, WV) defeated the Blue Storm girls' varsity and JV basketball teams in games played in Mercersburg January 26.
The Cardinals ran away with the JV contest by a score of 42-14, and their varsity squad also jumped out to a big early lead. Full court pressure from Spring Mills caused multiple turnovers, and an attacking offense helped them take a 20-point lead by the half. The Blue Storm settled down in the third quarter and outscored the powerful Cardinals (who are now 11-0 on the season), but after getting as close as 12 points early in the fourth quarter, Spring Mills regained control and took the victory.
Rachel Hull '23 led the Blue Storm with 13 points while Madison Goodhart '24 had 10 and Annie Mohr '26 added 9.
On Friday, January 27 at 6 pm, the 3-3 JV team will host Grier (Tyrone, PA) while the varsity (8-9) travels to Highstown, NJ for a 1 pm MAPL game against Peddie
