Softball Sweeps Peddie

Mercersburg defeated visiting Peddie 10-0 and 17-7 in a Mid-Atlantic Prep League softball doubleheader May 12.

Both games ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule as the Blue Storm dominated the afternoon. Game one was scoreless through 2 1/2 innings until Alli Caretti '26 ripped an RBI single and Larkin Fletcher '26 drove a two-run double off the fence on a hop to give Mercersburg a 3-0 lead after three. Three more runs came across in the fourth, with a double by Pritz Pritzker '25 highlighting that rally and then Kam Jenkins '26 doubled to left in the fifth to bring home two more and make it 9-0. A couple of wild pitches later, Jenkins crossed the plate with the 10th run to end the game. Quin Caretti '24 tossed a shutout on the mound while Pritzker was the only repeat hitter.

In the second game, the Blue Storm drew an astounding sixteen walks, which led to them scoring seventeen runs despite only collecting six hits. A six-run third and a nine-run fifth were the keys to the victory. Caretti once again pitched most of the game, scattering six hits and giving up no earned runs before giving way to Avallina Orfield '25. No Mercersburg player had more than one hit, but Fletcher score three runs and drove in three as well.

The win is the third straight for the Blue Storm and levels their record at 9-9 (3-5 in the MAPL). Mercersburg concludes its season with a doubleheader at Friends Select School (Philadelphia), but the games will be played on the grounds of Abington Friends School in Jenkintown, PA.
