A big second inning carried visiting Saint James School (Hagerstown, MD) to a 7-0 win over the Blue Storm softball team April 19.

After a quick first inning, the Saints scored a couple of runs in the top of the second, and it looked like Mercersburg might escape with minimal damage until the catcher Griffith stepped up and clubbed a grand slam to make it a six-run inning. Quin Caretti '24 and the Mercersburg defense steadied after that, only giving up one run across the final five innings. But the Saints pitchers combined for twelve strikeouts and only gave up four hits to keep the Blue Storm scoreless. Yael Hochberg '25 had two of the four Mercersburg hits with Stevie Keck '26 and Pritz Pritzker '25 coming up with the others.

The Blue Storm (4-6) hosts Peddie (Hightstown, NJ) for a Mid-Atlantic Prep League doubleheader on Saturday, April 22 beginning at 1 pm.
