Perkiomen Edges Football Team 42-36 in KSFL Semi-Final

Mercersburg hosted Perkiomen (Pennsburg, PA) in a Keystone State Football League semi-final matchup November 5, and fell to the Panthers in a thriller by a score of 42-36.

The Blue Storm jumped out on top 6-0 on a Luke Golumbic '23 six-yard TD run in the first quarter, and the game became a classic back and forth battle from there. At halftime it was 14-14 with Golumbic scoring on another run of 15 yards for Mercersburg's other TD.

In the second half the ping pong match continued with two more Golumbic touchdown runs for the Blue Storm, and several long scoring passes for the Panthers. Ryan MacInnes '23 tied the game at 36 with a thirteen-yard TD run with 2:33 to play, but Perkiomen was able to score on a fourth down conversion just one minute later to go back in front. Mercersburg mounted one last drive, and had a couple of long passes just elude the fingertips of Blue Storm receivers in the final moments. It was one of the best football games in recent years in Mercersburg, but the home team came up just a little short.

Perkiomen will now face Maryland School for the Deaf for the KSFL title on Friday, November 11. Mercersburg ends its season with a final record of 5-2.
