Outdoor Track & Field Opens 2022 Slate

At the season-opening Paul Arbogast Memorial Track & Field Invitational March 26 in Martinsburg, WV, Mercersburg’s Hannah King ’23 won the girls’ high jump (4-10) and the quartet of Anne Sehon ’25, Greta Lawler ’23, Susan Concordia ’22, and Avery Morrison ’22 placed first in the girls’ 4x800m relay (10:46.91).

It was the first full outdoor event for the team since May 2019.

Sehon took second in the girls’ 800m (2:37.27). Chris Watson ’22 and Foday Bangura ’22 placed second (23.98) and third (24.49), respectively, in the boys’ 200m, and were fourth and eighth in the boys’ 100m. 

King also placed fourth in the girls’ 100m hurdles and fourth in the girls’ 300m hurdles. Arden Phoenix ’22 took fourth in the girls’ discus. Watson added a third-place finish in the boys’ long jump.

“We had some great performances, despite the weather,” said Mercersburg head coach Nikki Walker P ’19, ’23. “We look forward to a great season of gradual improvement that culminates at the MAPL Championships.”

Mercersburg returns to action Saturday, April 2, at the Landon School Meet in Bethesda, MD (9:30 a.m.).
