Mercersburg Wrestlers Compete at National Meet

Three Mercersburg wrestlers travelled to Virginia Beach, VA over the weekend of April 5-7 to compete in the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) National Wrestling Tournament. This event is considered by many to be the most prestigious tournament in the country for high school wrestlers, and brings together competitors from all 50 states.

Gavin Boyd ’27, Brayden Pearson ’27, and Ethan Shirk ’27 all wrestled well while squaring off against high level competition. Shirk went 2-2 in his matches in the 132-pound weight class while Boyd went 5-3 at 170 pounds and Pearson finished 3-3 at 195. Both Boyd and Pearson placed sixth, which earned them the status of All-American. This is the first time that Mercersburg has had two wrestlers achieve All-American status in the same year.
