Mercersburg Welcomes 5 New Alumni Council Members

The mission of the Alumni Council is to build and perpetuate an alumni community of support for the school focusing on engagement and philanthropy. This year, Mercersburg Academy is pleased to welcome five new members.

Nikki Hyrkas Moyle '11 is transitioning from the U.S. Navy to the private sector. She attended the U.S. Naval Academy and became a Navy pilot, flying the MH-60R Seahawk. She completed multiple global deployments, leading teams on missions ranging from submarine hunting to maritime reconnaissance.

Nikki is actively exploring career opportunities and graduate programs. She lives in San Diego with her husband, Jack, and their son.

Nick Mellott '04 is a director at Highwoods Properties, focusing on investments in commercial real estate.

He has served Mercersburg as a class agent since graduation and has also served as a member of his class reunion committees.

Nick completed his undergraduate degree at Boston University and earned his MBA from University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School. He and his wife, Courtney, live in Raleigh, NC, with their children, Margaret and David.

Andrea Metz '10 attended Barnard College and earned her Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School. Andrea is from the Mercersburg area, and her father Bill Metz retired after 26 years as a Mercersburg staff member. Now based in Philadelphia, PA, she practices corporate law at Dilworth Paxson LLP. Andrea enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her pets, hosting elaborate dinner parties, and traveling whenever she can.

Reed Widdoes '15 is a law clerk to Justice Christine Donohue of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.

Since graduating, Reed has served Mercersburg as a class agent, reunion chair, and as a member of the reunion staff. As a student, Reed was a first-year prefect, class president, tour guide, and opinions editor for Mercersburg News. He played lacrosse, squash, and soccer, and was a member of the MAPS program and the Fifteen.

He received his Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law in 2024 and his bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University in 2019, where he majored in Italian Studies and Linguistics.

Gill Taylor Tatman-Tyree '95 is currently a captain at United Airlines, piloting the Boeing 737. Prior to his civilian airline career, he spent 24 years on active duty in the United States Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2021. He spent most of his military career overseas, including multiple deployments, and his last assignment was as an Army attaché and C-12 instructor pilot.

Gill was a 2020 recipient of the Alumni Council’s Award for Achievement.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in French and German from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Arts in International Security Studies from the German Military Academy’s Bundeswehr University Munich. He and his wife, Ann, live in Fairfax, VA, with their three daughters. Gill looks forward to serving in his free time as a K-12 substitute teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools.
