Mercersburg Hosts Huge Indoor Track Meet

The Hale Field House was the site of Mercersburg's first indoor track meet of the season December 9 with over 500 athletes from 22 teams competing.

Mercersburg Girls Highlights:

Hannah King ’23 won the high jump at 5’ 2”, breaking her own indoor school record of 5’ 0.5” that she set last year. Also in that event, Kamden Jenkins '26 cleared 4' 4" in her first high school track meet, good enough for 7th position and the 10th best all-time jump in indoor school history. Ella Blanco ’26 won the 3200m in a time of 12:49.66, and she placed 4th in the 1600m in a time of 5:54.74. Her 3200m time ranks #7 and her 1600m time ranks #8 on the all-time Mercersburg indoor track & field lists. Anne Sehon ’25 placed 3rd in the 800m in a time of 2:27.67. Erika Sowah ’24 placed 4th in the triple jump (31’ 2”) and 4th in the long jump (15’ 0.75”). Her triple jump ranks #6 and her long jump ranks #9 on the all-time Mercersburg indoor track & field lists. King, Sehon, Sowah, and Adrienne Howard ’26 teamed up to place 2nd in the 4 x 400m relay in a time of 4:25.85. The time ranks #2 on the Mercersburg indoor track & field lists, only 0.07 seconds off the school record of 4:25.78 set in 2019.     

Mercersburg Boys Highlights:

Cole Smith ’23 placed 4th in the 3200m in a time of 11:40.99, and 12th in the 1600m in a time of 5:11.26. Matt Archibald ’23 placed 5th in the long jump with a jump of 19’ 9.5”. The jump ranks #9 on the Mercersburg indoor track & field lists. Caleb Newcomer ’23 qualified for the finals of the 55m dash with a time of 6.81. The results of the finals were not yet available. Newcomer’s time from the trials ranks #10 on the Mercersburg indoor track & field lists. Oscar Su ’25 placed 7th in the pole vault at 8’ 0”.
