Mercersburg Academy Appoints Four New Board of Regent Members

Mercersburg Academy is pleased to welcome four new members to its Board of Regents. The Board is the school’s governing body and includes approximately 30 alumni, parents of alumni, parents of current students, and friends of the school appointed for three-year terms by the Board.

Dr. Katharine “Kate” Stroup Brooks ’72 is a nationally recognized career counselor and coach, who for over 35 years has helped college students and adults find meaningful careers. Focusing on career exploration, decision-making, and career development, she has specialized in services for gifted students and adults, including those with ADD, learning disabilities, or on the autism spectrum. She has managed Career Centers at Vanderbilt University, Wake Forest University, The University of Texas at Austin, and Dickinson College. She is the author of several career books including What Color is Your Parachute for College, You Majored in What?, Picture Your Career, and is the co-author, with Richard Bolles, of What Color is Your Parachute 2020, 2021, and 2022. For ten years she was a blogger for Psychology Today, and was twice designated a “Top Ten Most Visionary Leader in Career Services” by CSO Research, a global leader in career services programs automation. She is also a recipient of the NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) Kauffman Award and the NACE/Chevron award for her excellence in the profession. She has a doctorate in educational psychology with an emphasis in counseling psychology, and a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling from West Virginia University. Her bachelor's degree is in sociology and anthropology from Gettysburg College. She has now retired from higher education and lives in Winston-Salem, NC, where she is working on her first novel, and playing guitar in the Wake Forest multigenerational Americana jam known as the Unbroken Circle. 

Angela Killinger P ’26, ’28 joins the Board as the ex-officio White Key Executive Committee representative. She is the owner and vice president of Joyce Koons Honda Buick GMC in Manassas, VA. A third-generation automobile dealer, she is following in the footsteps of her grandfather and mother. She believes buying a car should be a joyful experience, and her life motto is to hustle kindness. She is a member of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA). Outside of work, she acts as an advocate in the community for children with cancer and has a partnership with Journey 4A Cure, KEEN (Kids Enjoying Exercise Now), and SPARK, Prince Williams County’s education foundation. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO, and a master’s degree from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. She and her husband, Krister, live in Middleburg, VA, and have four children, Ellie Rose, Chloe, Lilly ’26, and Keagan ’28. 

Dikachi Osaji ’14 is completing her Doctor of Medicine degree at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, IL. She earned a master’s degree in medical science from Boston University School of Medicine, Division of Graduate Medical Sciences, and served as a graduate research assistant in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She holds dual bachelor’s degrees in public health and psychology from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. She lives in The Colony, TX.

Dina Zimmerman ’86 is a global board candidate and human resources leader with more than 20 years of expertise managing through organizational change, leadership development, succession, recruiting and coaching/mentoring. She has a global mindset; having lived and worked in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. She was most recently the HR leader for GE, Onshore Wind after many years of working within the Danaher Corporation. She is a member of the board for the Arthritis Foundation of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia and is passionate about driving positive change for women and the environment. After Mercersburg, she earned bachelor’s degrees in psychology and finance from William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA, and Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL, respectively. She also holds a master’s degree in international business from Georgia State University in Atlanta. She also serves as an executive coach and career guide. She spends much of her free time traveling, reading, exercising, and connecting with family and friends. She and her husband, Stephen, spend their time between Charlotte, NC, Breckenridge, CO, and London, UK.
