Maggioncalda '23 Hat Trick Leads Boys' Varsity Soccer to Victory

Mercersburg defeated visiting Cumberland Valley Christian Academy (Chambersburg, PA) 7-0 in a boys' varsity soccer match October 25 for their fourth straight win.

It was a big day for the seniors in their final home game. Miles Maggioncalda '23 set the tone early with two unassisted goals in the first four minutes of the contest. The Blazers collected themselves and held the Storm at bay for the next 20 minutes, but Ken Akiyama '23 expanded the lead to 3-0 with 14 minutes to play in the first half and Chuks Ugori '23 scored on a nice pass from Grant Wilkinson '26 seven minutes later. Christian Concordia '24 drilled a brilliant shot from outside the box to give Mercersburg a 5-0 lead just before the halftime break.

Early in the second half, Dylan Stiffler '24 scored on a header after a gorgeous cross from Kevin Malo '24 on the right wing. Maggioncalda collected his third goal with 19 minutes to play to finish off the 7-0 victory.

Mercersburg (7-3-4) has one game remaining in the regular season, a MAPL contest at the Hill School (Pottstown, PA) on Saturday, October 29 at 1 p.m.
