Volleyball Teams Split With St. James

The JV volleyball team defeated St. James 2-1 October 26, but the visiting Saints spoiled Senior Night with a 3-0 victory in the varsity matchup.

Blue Storm seniors Morgan Fisher '23, Rachel Hull '23, and Priscilla Lee '23 were honored in a ceremony before the varsity match. Mercersburg came out fired up after the ceremony, but lost a seesaw first set 25-21. The second set ended with the same score after the Blue Storm fell into a deep hole, but then fought back behind the tremendous net play of Alli Caretti '26 to make it close. There were moments of strong play in the third set, but the Saints eventually prevailed 25-20 to close out the match.  Caretti and Morgan Fisher led the team with 9 kills each and Caretti also had 5 blocks. Priscilla Lee had 21 assists and she and Rachel Hull each had 6 digs.

The JV team had to rally to pick up its 8th straight win after dropping the first set 25-20. It was the first set the JV's have lost during their streak, but they found their rhythm and took the second set 25-17 and then won the deciding third by a score of 15-7.

The varsity squad travels to Newtown, PA on Friday, October 28 to take on the George School at 5 p.m. Both teams finish their seasons on Saturday, October 29 with a trip to Cumberland, MD to take on Lighthouse Christian Academy. The JV contest gets underway at 1 p.m. with the varsity following at 2 p.m.
