Chambersburg Country Club hosted the annual trimatch of St. James, St. Maria Goretti, and Mercersburg Academy October 26. Argyle Downes '24 was absolutely on fire once again in this round. He started off hot with birdies and finished with birdies en route to matching his low round of the year with a 4-under 32. Co-captain Ethin Xin '23 and Jason Jones '24 were next in the scoring order with a pair of spectacular 38's.  Xin's long game was steady as usual keeping his score low while Jones's round featured outstanding iron play throughout. Co-captain Daniel Zhong '23 was reliable if not outstanding with a respectable score of 43. The team total of 151 ties the 9 hole school record set by last year's squad at the exact same match.

"Absolutely love that the team is rounding into top form at the right time" Coach Smith beamed. "I am running out of compliments for Argyle's game but we will not take his spectacular play for granted.  On top of his outstanding play Jason and Ethan are in the best form of their time at Mercersburg.  With multiple 18 hole matches still to come this weekend, the recent run of great form is a very promising sign for the team."

The Blue Storm has a rematch against MAPL rival Hill on Saturday, October 29 at the Brookside Country Club (Pottstown, PA) beginning at 2:30 p.m.
