Mercersburg dominated McConnellsburg 156-234 in a boys' varsity golf match held at the Chambersburg Country Club September 14.

The top four golfers were all bunched together with Argyle Downes '24 shooting a 38, while co-captain Daniel Zhong '23 and Jason Jones '24 each carded a 39. Co-captain Ethan Xin '23 completed the scoring with a 40, that could have been better if not for a slow start to his round.

"This was a tremendous way to start the season" Coach Smith commented. "We have been practicing well but you never really know how the boys will react to match play, particularly after losing three seniors from last year's top six. I'm thrilled to see the development of this group of players from last year to now and honestly I feel like we left some strokes on the course. There is work to be done but the promise of a good season is permeating the team."

Mercersburg (1-0) returns to Chambersburg on Saturday, September 17 for a Centennial Cup match against Kiski School (Saltsburg, PA).
