Golfers Edge St. Andrews

Mercersburg defeated a short-handed team from St. Andrews (Middletown, DE) 129-130 in a boys' golf match held at the Whitetail Golf Course October 4.

Due to a rash of illness, St. Andrews was only able to bring three golfers to the match, but they fought hard and kept things very competitive. Stewart Allan '27 once again led the Storm in scoring with a 41 that featured a tap in birdie on the first hole. Next up was Matthew Gu '27, whose rock solid 43 included a 35-foot birdie putt on the last hole. Captain Ryan Kothari '25 and Miles New '27 each battled their way to a 45.

"This was a quality win," said head coach Doug Smith, "considering the conditions of Whitetail's rough which was 8 inches deep in spots. When you are playing in adverse situations you have to roll with the punches and keep plugging. We did that well today. Thrilled for Stewart that he is finding this form. He is a real grinder in practice and it is starting to pay off for sure."
