Girls' Varsity Squash Climbs Over Hill

In a match much closer than the 7-2 final score indicates, Mercersburg defeated MAPL rival Hill in a girls' varsity squash match held at the Davenport Squash Center January 28.

The Blue Storm defeated Blair earlier in the day, but had to dig deep to knock off the Blues. Emilia Falconi '23 swept her opponent 3-0 at #1, as did Martina Vega '23 (#2) and Hisano Enomoto '25 (#5). But Jamie Hyung "23 was extended to four games at #5, and had to go all the way to 15-13 in the fourth. Meanwhile Greta Lawler '23 (#3), Mogere Nyakoe '25 (#8), and Charlotte D'Arabian '24 (#9) all had to pull out dramatic wins in the fifth and final games.  Lawler and Nyakoe both lost their first two games and had to win three straight to get their wins.

Mercersburg is now 9-3 on the season and will host Potomac School (McLean, VA) on Wednesday, February 1 at 4 pm.
