Girls' Varsity Basketball Wins Regular Season Finale

On Senior Night for Rachel Hull '23, Mercersburg held on for a 46-44 victory over visiting Washington high school (Charles Town, WV) in a girls' varsity basketball game February 15.

Hull and student assistant Isonah Dlodlo '23 were both honored in a pre-game ceremony, and then the Blue Storm got to work in a rematch with the Patriots (Mercersburg won the first game 41-38 back in December). Washington led for much of the first half, but the Blue Storm pulled into a two-point lead before the intermission. Midway through the third quarter, Mercersburg went on a run and threatened to run away with it, building a 12-point lead. The Patriots weathered the storm and cut the lead to five by the end of the period, and got within one early in the fourth. The seesaw battle continued as Mercersburg pulled away a second time, leading by 8 with just a couple of minutes left, but then they didn't score again and Washington had a couple of chances to tie the game in the final moments. In the end, the Blue Storm escaped to pick up its' sixth win in the past seven games.

Rachel Hull led all scorers with 18 points while Annie Mohr '26 added 15 and Madison Goodhart '24 had 8.

Mercersburg ends the regular season with a record of 15-11, and will play in the first round of the PAISSA state basketball tournament on Friday, February 17. The 9th-seeded Blue Storm will visit #8 Shipley (Bryn Mawr) for a 5:30 pm tipoff.
