Girls' V Soccer Defeats Bishop Walsh

Mercersburg closed out the home portion of its girls' varsity soccer schedule with a convincing 6-2 win over Bishop Walsh School (Cumberland, MD) October 27.

Six different players scored the six goals as the Blue Storm launched an astounding 43 shots on the day to just four for the Spartans. Mercersburg was on the offensive from the opening whistle, but it took 20 minutes for Emma Hobbs '23 to score the first goal of the game on a tough angle shot from the right side. Nora Smith '24 increased the lead to 2-0 just five minutes later and Bella Jones '24 and Adrienne Howard '26 added goals before the half to give the Storm a 4-0 lead at the break.

In the second half Bishop Walsh created a few more scoring opportunities and cut the lead to 4-1 nine minutes into the second frame. Madison Goodhart '25 responded with a beautiful goal off an assist from Caroline Wilkinson '23 just two minutes later to take the lead back up to four. The Spartans scored again with 8 minutes to play, but Wilkinson finished off the scoring by sliding one through the defense with 2 minutes left.

Mercersburg (4-8) finishes the regular season with a road game at Hill on Saturday, October 29 at 2:30 p.m.
