Girls' V Lacrosse Wins Fourth Straight

Mercersburg defeated visiting Chambersburg high school 16-6 May 10 to end the regular season on a four-game winning streak.

The Storm took a quick 3-0 lead before the Trojans found their footing and pulled to within one early in the second quarter. In a game that featured several scoring streaks, Mercersburg netted the next four goals to build a 7-2 lead and entered halftime on top 9-4. Nora Smith '24 scored just 30 seconds into the third period, but Chambersburg clawed back once more and made it 10-6 midway through the third quarter. Scarlett McArthur '24 and the defense put the clamps on from there and the Storm scored the last six unanswered to seal the victory. Emerson Lissette '24 scored the final three goals including the 16th with one second left on the clock. Lissette is now over 100 points for her career (109) and has scored the bulk of those this season as she has 53 goals and 44 assists in 2024.

Lissette led all scorers with four goals and four assists while Smith, Alishya Thurmond '26, and Chloe Allis '25 had three each (all of Allis' goals came in the second quarter). Allis also had two assists and Smith had one. Sarah Howley '26 added two goals and three assists and Emma Diianni '25 chipped in one goal. McArthur collected eleven saves to push her career total to 255.

In pre-game ceremonies, seniors Paloma Casariego, Emerson Lissette, Scarlett McArthur, Grace Rachal, Maria Rihn, Nora Smith, and Emily Tan were honored for their contributions to the girls' lacrosse program.

Mercersburg concludes its season with a record of 9-7 and will now await seedings and opponents for the PAISAA state tournament.
